Susan Sarandon has voiced her support for marriage equality in an “Americans For Marriage Equality” video by the Human Rights Campaign.

The video makes light of Sarandon’s history with marriage. The actor divorced from her husband in 1979 and later spent 21 years, unmarried, with former partner Tim Robbins.

Sarandon said: “While marriage might not be my thing, if it’s your thing you damn well ought to be able to have it equally and unequivocally.

“The America I want to live in celebrates diversity and believes in equal rights for all families no matter what what they look like.”

In 2010, Sarandon called GLADD “out of control” after the organisation criticised the TV show Glee for using the word “tranny”.
